Be On The Safe Side

Audio CD Overview

Cause ’N Effect, the new Audio CD produced for the Be On The Safe Side Teen Pregnancy Prevention Campaign, will be launched on radio station, WKYS-FM (93.9) on June 1st. Popular on-air personality Zulu will interview youth and a parent involved in the campaign during a talk show called ‘Reality Check’ from 8-9 p.m. The show will also include calls from the audience and a preview of several tracks from the soon-to-be-released CD.

The CD is a compilation of original skits, raps and songs written and performed by DC youth. It explores the choices, decisions, consequences and responsibilities related to sexual activity. Cause ‘N Effect is a unique way for DC to hear youth voices, stories and talents. It also contains strong call-to-action messages that support the four broad goals of the campaign:

  • Increase awareness about teen pregnancy and its consequences;
  • Change attitudes and values regarding teen pregnancy;
  • Promote abstinence as a viable option for teens; and
  • Encourage parent/child communication about sexuality, reproductive health and the risk of teen pregnancy
