In the public sector, MEE has spearheaded many public education campaigns focusing on low-income urban youth, African Americans and Latinos, gay and bisexual audiences and men who have sex with men (MSMs). MEE is highly proficient in creating culturally-appropriate public educations that promote health issues to marginalized audiences. These campaigns have addressed issues such as:
- Sexuality, including HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment
- Birth control and pregnancy
- Sexually-transmitted diseases
- Male/female interpersonal dynamics
- Violence, including dating/intimate, gun and juvenile street violence
- Substance abuse, including marijuana, tobacco and alcohol
In both public and private sector campaigns, MEE uses a combination of traditional and non-traditional approaches, in order to ensure the most cost-effective, culturally-relevant strategies for the intended audience. Our goal is always to get as close to the target audience as possible. To do so, we have incorporated strategies such as:
- Peer-to-peer communications, using MEE's proprietary model
- Extensive partnerships with key grassroots, community-based organizations
- Community action / Street teams
- Promotional tours at Historically-Black Colleges and Universities
