Community Mobilization
Campaigns

In the public sector, MEE has spearheaded many public education campaigns focusing on low-income urban youth, African Americans and Latinos, gay and bisexual audiences and men who have sex with men (MSMs). MEE is highly proficient in creating culturally-appropriate public educations that promote health issues to marginalized audiences. These campaigns have addressed issues such as:

  • Sexuality, including HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment
  • Birth control and pregnancy
  • Sexually-transmitted diseases
  • Male/female interpersonal dynamics
  • Violence, including dating/intimate, gun and juvenile street violence
  • Substance abuse, including marijuana, tobacco and alcohol

In both public and private sector campaigns, MEE uses a combination of traditional and non-traditional approaches, in order to ensure the most cost-effective, culturally-relevant strategies for the intended audience. Our goal is always to get as close to the target audience as possible. To do so, we have incorporated strategies such as:

  • Peer-to-peer communications, using MEE's proprietary model
  • Extensive partnerships with key grassroots, community-based organizations
  • Community action / Street teams
  • Promotional tours at Historically-Black Colleges and Universities
