MEE has developed and focus group tested a set of materials designed to educate and empower parents, caregivers and mentors of inner city youth, ages 10 to 17. Three guides, under the series title The Blunt Truth, center on issues related to preventing marijuana use by children and youth. The guides are primarily targeted to Latino and African American families and communities, which are often disproportionately affected by drug use and abuse.

To ensure their effectiveness, these guides use short, clear text; pictures of urban scenes and people; engaging graphics, and practical, "real" strategies and tools to help adults effectively connect with young people. They work equally well within a variety of family configurations; biological parents, foster parents, older brothers and sisters, mentors and grandparents
serving as primary caregivers will all find that The Blunt Truth guides will help make having "the talk" about drug use much easier and more fruitful.

The Blunt Truth Guide The "near-peer" version of The Blunt Truth, Talking to Youth About
Marijuana, is appropriate for use by older siblings younger teens, along with teens and young adults from the neighborhood who may or may not be related by blood, but who are acting as mentors/role models for the younger set.

The Blunt Truth: What Teens Need to Know About Marijuana is designed to be a valuable resource for the thousands of caregivers in inner cities who need help navigating the tricky waters of raising a hip-hop adolescent.

The Blunt Truth Guide
Because we recognized that there are particular elements of the Latino
culture that must be reflected in order to create an effective tool, MEE has developed a Blunt Truth guide, La Cruda Realidad, which reflects daily realities in Latino communities surrounding marijuana use.
