Marijuana Video and Support Materials: L-Evated the Blunt Truth (Pg.2)

The editing style of this TV program is fast-paced and music-oriented. The video is designed to appeal to the tastes and expectations of urban youth. The music videos, film clips, graffiti art, and lively interviews are intercut in a brisk, rhythmic style using white noise, flash frames, and innovative camera movements to capture and retain the attention of the urban youth target audience. The show is based in Philadelphia; however, elements of the production were gathered in Los Angeles, Houston, Washington DC, and New York City in an effort to present a program with national appeal and relevance.

"Don't Believe the Hype" is the spirit used in this television show to confront young people's reasons for smoking marijuana. Research shows that youth are getting the wrong data, passing on the wrong information to each other, and making bad choices from the wrong information. "L-Evated: The Blunt Truth" addresses these misconceptions. Many youth claim that adults, including their parents, smoked marijuana when they were young. "L-Evated: The Blunt Truth" sends a message that adults must consider the effects of their behavior as role models. MEE shows how its use has hampered their motivation and lead productive lives.
