After the Fact, After the Act

Raising Awareness of Emergency Contraception Among Women of Color

[ return to Our Work ]

The Reproductive Health Technologies Project (RHTP) chose MEE to develop and implement a campaign to increase awareness of emergency contraception among low-income African American and Latina women. MEE implemented the After the Fact, After the Act campaign in Philadelphia and Oakland. The campaign provided women of color with culturally-relevant information about their options in preventing an unplanned pregnancy.

During the campaign, MEE relied on its extensive network of community-based organizations and contacts to disseminate information directly to various communities. RHTP’s toll-free hotline provided instant guidance and information to callers. The number of daily calls to the hotline increased by 300% as a result of the campaign’s radio ads, print materials and community outreach efforts.
